Ristorante Fiore in the city's famous North End
was the location for a special and personal donation of four pairs
of Patriots tickets. This was not the first time ESGR volunteer and
restaurant owner
Fiore Colella
has donated tickets for professional sporting events to members of
the Guard and Reserve.
What was notable about this act of generosity
was that Mr. Colella wanted the tickets given to service members who
had been wounded in
Iraq
or
Afghanistan. A call was placed to Thomas Kelley, Medal of Honor
recipient and Secretary of the Massachusetts Department of Veterans'
Services to request his assistance and as always, he was very
accommodating.
Secretary Kelley, accompanied by Kevin Lambert,
Outreach Coordinator for the Department visited Ristorante Fiore
where Mr. Colella presented them the four pairs of ticket. Mr. Lambert,
still recovering from injuries sustained in
Iraq, commented that this kind of support can go a long way to help
a wounded warrior on the road to recovery. This act of kindness will
not soon be forgotten by the Veterans fortunate enough to be gifted
Mr. Colella's tickets.
Representing ESGR was Area Chair
John Pelose
and staff member Ken Forchielli who coordinated the August 22nd
event.
