Fitchburg State President Signs Statement of Support

Fitchburg Richard Bedell, a volunteer with the MA Committee for ESGR presided over a Statement of Support signing at Fitchburg State College, on July 29th. Mr. Bedell, who is also the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the Massachusetts Air National Guard was attired in his Air Force duty uniform for this special occasion. ESGR staff member Kenneth Forchielli was also present. The event took place in the President’s office where Dr. Robert Antonucci signed the Statement of Support affirming the college’s support for employees and students serving in the Guard and Reserve.   

Prior to the signing, Chief Master Sergeant Bedell presented a brief overview of ESGR, its history and mission, and explained why employer support is critical to the defense of America .   

After signing the Statement of Support, Dr. Antonucci presented Chief Master Sergeant Bedell and Mr. Forchielli a Fitchburg State College pen as a memento of the occasion. He also talked about the successful first year return of ROTC on campus. The program had a small number of enthusiastic students during the 2007-2008 academic year and is expected to see those numbers increase in the coming year.
