On February 20, 2008, Mr. Arthur Mabbett, President of Mabbett & Associates, Inc. was informed by members of his firm that his presence would be needed at a conference scheduled for noon on February 17, 2008. He was presently surprised to find that the conference was to honor his firm for the support shown to Corporal Jody Freitas, a civilian Environmental Engineer and member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. In the conference room, Mr. Mabbett found his employees, representatives from the MA ESGR Committee and CPL Freitas (in uniform)

CPL Freitas had nominated his employer, Mabbett & Associates, Inc. for the Patriot Award in recognition of the support he was provided while deployed. CPL Freitas noted how reassuring it was to know his employer supported his service and that he had his job when he returned.

Based on all that CPL Freitas stated about his company, the MA ESGR Committee presented the Above & Beyond Award to Mr. Mabbett and Mabbett & Associates, Inc., Environmental Consultants & Engineers.

Mr. Mabbett, a proud veteran with service in both the Army and Army Reserves spoke of the qualities CPL Freitas brings to his job. Mr. Mabbett stated how proud he was to have a member of the Guard working for his company.  Mr. Mabbett originally joined the military during the Vietnam War era and remembered how many veterans were treated when they returned home. Mr. Mabbett wanted to make sure that CPL Freitas knew his service was appreciated. In a further show of support, Mr. Mabbett signed a Statement of Support on behalf of his company.
