On January 29, WATD-FM radio in Marshfield was the sight of a first in Massachusetts ESGR history.  An Above and Beyond Award was presented on the air, as part of a broadcast about the ESGR mission.  Accepting the award for WATD were Edward Perry, CEO, and Christine James of WATD News.  CEO Ed Perry stated that he was well aware of the work that ESGR accomplishes throughout the country on behalf of the members of the Guard & Reserve as we is a former Massachusetts Army Guard Officer.  Christine James took up the ESGR banner in mid 2007 by offering the Committee time on her news hour.  In addition,  Christine produced a public service announcement for the Mass. Committee and continues to play it indefinitely on the station. Finally, WATD has signed a Statement of Support for the Guard & Reserve.  WATD-FM stands as a fine example for Massachusetts media outlets to follow.
