Chief Teachman signs the SOS
On December 20, 2007 the New
Bedford Police Department signed a Statement of Support for the Guard &
Reserve.
New Bedford
has twelve members of the force currently serving as members of the
National Guard & Reserve. Chief Ron Teachman signed the document on
behalf of the Department. In attendance, in addition to the Chief, were
Dave St. Germain and Roger Fortin from Massachusetts ESGR, Deputy Chief Kevin
Hegarty, Officer Ramon Alvorado and his family. Deputy Chief Hegarty was
presented The Patriot Award. He was recommended by Officer Alvorado who
recently returned home from a tour of duty in
Iraq
. On display in the Chief's Office were large photos of members of the
force that are currently serving on active duty.
