Friday, October 26, 2007 was the date of the Woods Hole US Coast Guard Base Tour & Luncheon. Sponsored by Mass. ESGR, the event brought together Guard & Reserve member employers, military members from three components and several ESGR representatives.  Employers left the Woods Hole USCG facility amazed at the skill, leadership and knowledge displayed by Coast Guardsmen throughout the tour.  Many commented on the level of responsibility given to and assumed by young personnel only a year or two out of high school.  The tour was conducted by Senior Chief Richard Uronis, base senior enlisted member and followed by lunch at the Landfall Restaurant where speakers included Commander Greg Johnson, senior US Coast Guard Reserve officer in the area and Tom Boyle, Mass. ESGR Vice-Chair.  Both a Patriot Award and an Above and Beyond Award were presented to the Steamship Authority during the luncheon.
