On Sunday, May 27, 2007,
the City of Somerville held its annual Memorial Day Parade in honor of those
servicemen and women who gave their all in service to our country. Beyond the
military contingents showing respect, the parade featured many groups from
various civic and fraternal organizations across the state.
As a reminder for all that
participated in the parade or simply passed by the site as spectators, the
Massachusetts Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (MA-ESGR)
unfurled its large banner and message to employers of those who are currently
serving as citizen soldiers. The banner was well recognized and greeted by many
as they passed by during the parade.
In the photo, two of
Somerville’s hometown heroes wave and accept the appreciation of those along the
route as they pass by the banner that reminds employers to support their
employees that also serve when called in the military.
