The Massachusetts Committee for ESGR presented the “Above & Beyond” Award to Mr. Stephen Guttenplan, President and CEO of Metcalf & Eddy (M&E) on May 14, 2007. Founded in 1907, M&E first won national recognition when it pioneered what would become known as "environmental engineering" through its water and wastewater work. Today M&E employs over 800 professionals at more than 30 office locations. From initial environmental planning and compliance studies to detailed design, turnkey construction, and assistance with facility operations and maintenance, its staff provides engineering solutions that work for government and private clients worldwide.

  Mr. Stephen Guttenplan, on behalf of Metcalf & Eddy, signed a Five-Star Statement of Support during a ceremony held at the main office in March of 2007. Mr. Guttenplan stated the importance of employers to show support for their employees when they are called from their civilian life to service with the military.
