The Massachusetts Committee for ESGR recently presented an Above & Beyond
Award to Mr. Richard Meelia, President and CEO of Tyco Healthcare. Tyco
Healthcare, headquartered in Mansfield, is a leading global medical device,
supplies and pharmaceutical company that employs over 43,000 employees.
Mr. Meelia, on behalf of Tyco Healthcare, signed a Five-Star Statement of
Support in 2006. The mobilization policy Tyco Healthcare offers goes Above &
Beyond, providing full pay for military reserve employees during their first 12
months of mobilization. Since September 11, 2001 Tyco Healthcare employees have
been mobilized over 60 times, including 2 mobilizations for Ken Tripp, a member
of the United States Naval Reserve and the person who nominated Mr. Meelia and
Tyco Healthcare for this recognition. Ken has been employed at Tyco Healthcare
since 1996, and currently works as a Distribution Center Manager in Chicopee
Massachusetts.
