Millville, Massachusetts is located just off Route 146 in the Blackstone
Valley. It is a Norman Rockwell portrait of
small town America. In October
of last year, Dave St. Germain, Executive Director of Mass ESGR contacted
the Police Chief of Millville, Chief Tim Ryan, regarding a Statement of
Support signing.
While talking to the Chief, he learned that the small
Millville PD, (5 members) included 2 members of the Army Reserve, Lt.
Colonel Michael Corriveault and Staff Sergeant John L. Moore, both of
whom had just returned from a year of active duty in the Iraqi theater.
Both men were awarded the Bronze Star for their actions
in Iraq.
Chief Millville desired to sign a Statement of Support,
and so at a parish hall in Millville on November 30, State Chair Ken Forchielli attended a signing ceremony along with many citizens of the
community present.
Not only did Chief Ryan sign a Statement of Support, but
also the Deputy Fire Chief, Lee Clement and the Chairman of the Board of
Selectmen, Diane McCutheon. This is typical of the outstanding support small
town America has always provided its warriors and it's a story that makes
you proud to be an American.
