Governor Romney
has been a staunch supporter of the Guard and Reserve during his tenure as
governor. This support was formally acknowledged in a State House ceremony
during which Governor Romney received the Seven Seals Award presented by MA
ESGR State Chair Ken Forchielli. A Seven Seals Award is symbolic of the
seven services that comprise the Reserve components and is intended for
individuals whose initiative and support, over time, promotes the ESGR
mission.
Since 911, Governor Romney has
been an advocate for the men and women of the Guard and Reserve by proposing
and signing into law, legislation designed to ease the financial burden on
mobilized state employees. Today, in fact, the governor signed a
law that extended
differential pay for public employees called to active duty. The Seven Seals
presentation, which followed the signing, could not have taken place at a
more opportune time.
Assisting in the ceremony was
MA ESGR Awards Manager Joseph Ryan who presented Governor Romney with an
ESGR hat and lapel pin. Also in attendance was committee member and Boston
sports talk radio personality Ted Sarandis and ESGR Program Coordinator 1LT
Angela Tragos.
